The Tour Signal is intended to respond to current demand, both from the point of view of the reconfi guration of living spaces and from the point of view of the environment.
For EPAD, this project is the means of asserting the new specifi cs of the prime European business Centre, particularly through the totally new concept of Very High Emotional Quality.
Several major issues govern the project for the Tour Signal: above all, it is a question of creating a High-Rise Building that combines diversity of use with exemplary conduct in matters of sustainable development.
A process of High Environmental Quality and Sustainable Development.
The integration of fundamental precepts of environmental preservation is one of the favoured themes of EPAD, which has committed to a Sustainable Development Charter for business districts.
The attention given to these questions will therefore be a major issue in determining the quality of the project. As it must integrate and anticipate the preoccupations of its future managers and users, the architectural design of the tower must be coupled with a carefully studied strategy. EPAD has asked the teams to implement innovative solutions, including a signifi cant contribution from renewable energy and in meeting the requirements of the 3 themes of sustainable development:
- economic
- social, of quality of life and well-being
- environmental
The coherence and balance of these within the proposed architectural design will be a signifi cant factor in the choice of the winning project.
A diverse programme for Very High Emotional Quality.
The concern for a diverse programme comes from the desire to reintroduce the notion of proximity within buildings. So it is a question of thinking about the interaction between various different groups: those at work, residents and shopkeepers, in order to establish a real emotional quality of life within La Défense.
So, particular attention has been paid by EPAD to diversity of use, meaning the combination of all functions such as accommodation, hotels, businesses and services, as well as cultural and leisure facilities.
The candidates have therefore had to explain how the project would allow overall optimisation of the design, systems and the use of spaces, particularly adjoining spaces.
